Cecile Dixon – “Perfect” – A Poem

Perfect

I came into this world riding a wave of blood and waters.

The crown of my head appeared, thick black hair.
“Perfect,” they said.

Two eyes with dark lashes.
“Perfect,” they said.

Small flat nose.
“Perfect,” they said.

Small puckered lips.
“Perfect,” they said.

Chin and neck.
“Perfect,” they said.

Barrel chest with two nipples.
“Perfect,” they said.

Two arms with hands and fingers attached.
“Perfect,” they said.

Round belly attached by cord.
“Perfect,” they said.

Hips narrow and slim.
“Perfect,” they said.

Female genitalia.
“Maybe the next time it will be a boy.”
