Richard Krawiec – "third day after the storm" – A Poem

third day after the storm

the blue fades from the morning light
yellow suffuses the sky, tender
slow drops slide the icicles
sift down into diminishing
drifts of snow
even the dog begs
to sit on the revealed
pathway
it’s time to return

after three days spent
without phone calls or clothing
it’s time to shower, shave, iron
gather the empty wine bottles
massage oil, melted candles,
crusts of fresh bread,
shards of fruit,
shove everything back
to propriety,
return to limits.
