Peter Sragher: Two Poems

set the fire aside

set a thought beside
the snow
may it rest
may it rest
may it rest
from the fall
may it show you
how to fall into
beauty
how to fall into
silence
and be heard
everywhere

how to fall and
be loved by
everybody
how to fall and
stay upright
as if there existed no sound
as if there existed no fall

but all the snowflakes
were caught in a
rise
a rise from earth
to the clouds
beyond
the clouds
where they lie
in peace

**

can i touch a sound

will it’s colour be a
trembling red
afraid of darkness and
silence
or will it bear no colour
and cherish
black
will it moistly sink
the sun into the gorge of
a mountain

can  i touch a sound
and dare to take to
speech
and utter words that
won’t ever become a rhythm

can i ever touch a sound
and take it to my heart
and make it my blood
resounding through my
body

i dare
i dare
i dare
touch a sound
it touches me back
in gentleness
and we learn
from each other
music
